I recently turned a loft in downtown Atlanta into a studio set and called up a few of my colleagues and friends to make some magic happen. I reached out to some of my favorite digital entrepreneurs in the Atlanta area and scheduled a series of interviews — think Inside the Actors Studio with a diverse group of new media and tech entrepreneurs.
James Hammond of Ikon Filmworks filmed and edited the interviews. Dimitri Crowder of Dimitri Crowder Photography captured portraits of each guest and behind-the-scenes stills of each shoot. CJ from PRO-Makeup Artistry Group added her fabulous flair to each interview. Carina-Michelle, a budding film maker, did a wonderful job as our Production Assistant. It was so uplifting and energizing to be surrounded by a community of people who are so passionate and talented.
There’s something really magical about connecting with other people. Really connecting. Taking the time to listen. Being curious enough to care. Being vulnerable enough to talk about something deeper than the weather.
At the end of the day, that’s what Digital Diversity is all about — connecting. It’s about building a community of dreamers, do-ers and artists. It’s about surrounding ourselves with people who have the boldness and the vision to aim higher. And it’s about forcing ourselves to take the next step, whatever that next step is in our lives.
It’s time for us to make changes in our lives, in our communities, in our world. Time to take those old dreams off the shelf and dust them off. Time to get to work.
I finally got tired of wishing and waiting. And then I got moving.
If you’re on the way to turning one of your bold visions into reality, keep moving! If you’re not… what are you waiting for? Let’s shake things up and make some magic happen.
